Heaven Hill 7 Year Old Bottled in Bond

Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Heaven Hill Distillery
Louisville, Kentucky
ABV: 50%
100 Proof

As much as I love Heaven Hill, it is becoming harder to keep track of all the variants that come out. Which ones are still in production or retired. I picked this up in a local store because I had never seen it before. It was on the expensive side at $60 but I took a chanced on brand loyalty. Looking into it, the 6 year bottled in bond was retired and this is the mainline replacement. I’m not sure if that is just the one I reviewed a few years ago or also the Green Label one as well.

It was good but did not stand out to me. The smell was lovely, nice dark syrup notes and oak. The taste of it was smooth as always with the main notes being spiced vanilla. Definitely some layers of flavor as it sits on your tongue. I think my issue is that it is more on the expensive side but not good enough to warrant the cost to get again. Unfortunately this seems to be the only version you can easily obtain outside Kentucky. I think I’ll just hold off and get a couple bottles of the Green Label next time I visit since it is so much cheaper and really hits the spot for me.
