Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice

Hendrick’s Midsummer Solstice

Hendrick’s Gin Distillery

Girvan, Scotland

ABV: 43.4%

86 Proof

Hendrick’s is one of my favorite gins. It is my preferred gin for cocktails. I was intrigued when I found this limited release at Trader Joe’s in the summer. It is a part of a series and I plan on covering the others over time. This one is obviously inspired by the summer solstice and is released in the summer season.

It focuses on the floral elements, presumably using more than usual. It smells lovely, with an intense mix of botanicals. The juniper berry is still there, but in addition I got some fruit like blackberry and pear. It tasted surprisingly different though. It was sweet and smooth and I detected honeysuckle and blueberry. Just a lot of flavors and each sip was unique. It costs just a little more than regular Hendrick’s at about $35 and I will be picking it up again when I come across it.
