This is it. My favorite regular drinking Bourbon. It was recommended to me several years ago and between the price and taste it is fantastic. At this point it is worth mentioning I have a bit of a sweet tooth when it comes to hard alcohol. I love good rum and brandy. It’s a departure from my usual taste profile to be sure. I avoid sugary mixed drinks altogether. I think I just like how it can make the finishing taste smooth which is what Angels Envy does so well. They achieve this through port wine barrels. From their website:

“We use 60-gallon ruby port barrels made from French oak and imported directly from Portugal. This creates a whiskey of unprecedented smoothness, sweetness and balance.”

It’s that balance that it strikes so perfectly. It has a more traditional rye taste up front and finishes with that sweetness. It should be said that if you don’t like sweet notes this wouldn’t be for you. However if you like it even sweeter, there is a more limited and expensive version finished in rum barrels which is also great.  At around 40 dollars for a 750 ml bottle, this is an easy recommend.
